It might be unusual to have a competition finished so early in the season but the 21 football championship was decided on Sunday last when Bal edged out Kilmeen in an exciting contest at Enniskeane. In a game which could have gone either way, Bal got off to the better start and were four points to the good following points from Cillian Cullinane and one from Daniel Nyhan. Bal advanced to the final of the U21 championship after an unexpected margin of victory at the end of a sporting encounter. It should be said that the margin of victory in the end was somewhat flattering and for forty five minutes the game was evenly enough contested albeit Bal did have the better of the exchanges overall. Ballinascarthy 1-15 ;  Muintir Bhaire 1-10 The Bal U21 team played their opening game of the championship on Sunday (9th March) at a well prepared Leap. Cillian Cullinane who notched up eleven points over the hour popped over the opening score from play.
