Ballinascarthy 4-12  O'Donovan Rossa 0-6

U14 football league final; Ballinascarthy had an emphatic win over O'Donovan Rossa to win this final.  The ground work for victory was laid in a tight first half, played against a strong breeze.  Captain Eoin Nyhan, Aaron Ferguson, and Ciaran O’Neill were immense in defence while up front, Padraic Cullinane and Brian O’Donovan were to the fore.  Bal went in at the break 0-5 to 0-3 up.

With the wind behind them in the second half, Bal cut loose.  Dean Harte and Alan Phayer got on top in midfield.  The goals eventually came, the first from Ciaran Nyhan. James O’Leary, now moved to full forward from defence, scored two while Conal Cullinane contributed another to seal a fine victory.

This caps off a magnificent season for this bunch of players.  They started in the spring by winning out the Feile competition, beating Aghinagh in a memorable final in Pairc Ui Rinn.  They went on to represent Cork the national finals in Mayo, getting through to the last eight before finally bowing out.  Bal then went on to win the west Cork U14 football championship, beating Bantry in the final.  Now they have added a third trophy, the U14 league, to their collection.
