Bal advance to final of U21 Championship   23/03/2014

Bal advanced to the final of the U21 championship after an unexpected margin of victory at the end of a sporting encounter. It should be said that the margin of victory in the end was somewhat flattering and for forty five minutes the game was evenly enough contested albeit Bal did have the better of the exchanges overall. Bal started with a brace of scores and were 1-3 ahead inside ten minutes with the crucial goal coming from Aidan O'Donovan after set up play by Seamus Mac and Cillian Cullinane. However Skib responded in like fashion and dangerman Kevin Davis was the playmaker in their goal and two point reply to bring the margin to the minimum. Skibb were now dominating matters but Bal responded with three fine points from frees to go in four points at the break. On the resumption Skibb had the opening point but again Bal responded with two Aidan O'Donovan points. The Bal backs were now on top and forced Skibb to shoot under pressure resulting in three wides. In the fortieth minute Cillian Cullinane won a great ball, laid off Barry Walsh and he put Luke Murray through for a decisive goal. This effectively put the game beyond the losers and Bal ran in a goal(Barry Walsh) and four points in the final ten minutes.
